Role : Directors

Administration, Communication and Consultation

  • Develop safety management systems for Consultation, Training, Emergency Evacuation, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Safety Control and Review.
  • Construct, implement & monitor OH&S policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that safety is an agenda item at management meetings.
  • Ensure support is provided for employee rehabilitation.
  • Oversee first aid facilities and maintenance.

Incident Management and Emergency Response

  • Oversee & Monitor Emergency Response procedures.
  • Ensure near misses and incidents are investigated and reported in the proper manner.

Work Practice and Procedures

  • Ensure safe work practices are adhered to by all employees, contractors, and visitors on site.
  • Ensure Contractor and visitors adhere to our safety rules whilst on site.
  • Ensure hazardous substances are stored, handled and disposed of in the correct manner.

Hazard Control

  • Ensure Risk assessment planning and, designing strategies are developed to identify unsafe equipment, conditions or practices.
  • Identify hazards, assess level of risk and implement appropriate controls.
  • Ensure Sub Contractors conduct work method statements for job activities to be performed. Also, conduct a plant safety analysis on plant equipment required to perform the job activities.

Health Surveillanc

  • Ensure that all business processes are assessed to identify any need to conduct health surveillance.

Training

  • Advise & train others as to their OH&S responsibilities.
  • Ensure training is conducted on Drug and Alcohol abuse in the Workplace.
  • Conduct appropriate training on correct Manual Handling techniques.
  • Encourage all persons on site to strive to continually improve their level of OH&S awareness.
  • Build OH&S awareness into company induction program.

Role : First Aid Officers

Administration, Communication and Consultation

  • Register all injuries in the appropriate injury log.

Incident Management and Emergency Response

  • Report all first aid injuries to the appropriate manager/ supervisor.

Work Practice and Procedures

  • Maintain all first aid boxes & equipment.

Hazard Control

  • Administer first aid as & when required.

Training

  • Ensure appropriate qualifications are obtained and maintained.

Role : Employees

Administration, Communication and Consultation

  • Check safety requirements are specified in Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Inform supervisor if unsure of safety requirements for any job or task.

Incident Management and Emergency Response

  • Report all incidents and accidents.
  • Participate in rehabilitation program if injured.
  • Participate in emergency drills and be familiar with emergency and first aid procedures.

Work Practice and Procedures

  • Follow safe work practices at all times.
  • Follow all procedures and requirements of the worksite.
  • Wear and maintain appropriate (PPE).

Hazard Control

  • Identify hazards and if possible correct them immediately.
  • Use the company’s reporting system to report all incidents and hazards.

Health Surveillanc

  • Undergo medical assessments as required.
  • Advice supervisors of any incapacity (e.g. medication, illness, fatigue).
  • Participate in health management programs.
  • Abide by work restrictions where defined by doctors.

Training

  • Participate in all training programs.
  • Adhere to all instructions & training in regards to health and safety.

Role : OH & S Officer

Administration, Communication and Consultation

  • Attend management meetings.
  • Review all components of the company’s OH&S policies and procedures on a periodic basis.
  • Discuss incidents and issues raised and suggest recommendations as required.

Incident Management and Emergency Response

  • Assist in the investigation of incidents.
  • Assess all corrective actions for their effectiveness.
  • Assist in the preparation of emergency procedures.

Work Practice and Procedures

  • Review work practices and work instructions on a periodic basis.

Hazard Control

  • Review the results of safety audits and make any necessary recommendations for improvement.
  • Review corrective actions.

Health Surveillanc

  • Monitor condition of amenities.
  • Make recommendations for improvement.

Training

  • Assist in the preparation of training programs.
